For many people, jazz is simply another form of music which draws up images of a saxophone player belting out improvised harmonies.  To others, jazz can't simply be music.  Jazz is a lifestyle.

Such can be said about the fun-loving people of Negros Island, Philippines, who at the end of the day's work enjoy kicking back to relax and soothe themselves with the music which embody a peculiar but distinctly Negrense way of life.  Thus, every February, the city of Bacolod comes together to enjoy and celebrate the music with which they can best identify with.

As an Englishman and native Londoner, I am deeply into musicals.  Yet, I am highly drawn to jazz and have always appreciated the quality of talent displayed by jazz musicians.  For this reason, I look forward to The Bacolod Jazz Festival, brought onstage by the Negros Jazz Society which is on its 6th Edition this 2015.  Jazz lovers not just from Bacolod City but from all over the Philipppines come to enjoy musical improvisation in all its forms.  This annual celebration features a unique mix of top-quality artists from the Philippines' local jazz scene as well as emerging stars.

This year, the 6th edition of the Bacolod JazzFest is slated on February 20, 2015 at the La Proa Ballroom, L'fisher Hotel.  Joining the Fesival will be The Mike Tambasen Project featuring Nimrod Villamarzo.

This year's Jazzfest will also feature Clara Benin.
